Fabulous place. We returned and already planning to come again. The owners are really friendly and helpful but not intrusive. The mansion is old and quirky but so comfortable it feels like an old friend. We loved the donkeys and pigs and the daily visits from the owners’ dogs was a joy. There are plenty of places to sit either as a family or on your own if you need some quiet time. The kitchen is well equipped and we loved cooking massive dinners for the whole family. We are already so excited for our return visit in two years time.

Second time our family have come to this stunning old mansion with our, set in amazing country side, with donkeys, pigs and a wonderful hot tub and run by a delightful family with geogeous dogs. Love its wonky bits and feeling in touch with nature. Lovely big kitchen well equipped. We love this place so much we are planning trip number three! For true country lovers it's a perfect place. Reviews about flies and spiders yes you will see flies and spiders your next to a farm and in the countryside. Last year we had caterers who prepared and serves amazing food and if you are so inclined you can even have cleaners in (at a charge obviously !) But feel so at home here why would you bother for a week. Love love love this place our little piece of heaven.

Our families second time visiting and just as incredible as last time! A perfect isolated location in nature, huge impressive property, lots of land for walks, and to see the donkeys, pigs, and dogs. Kept by a wonderful helpful family who are happy to help with anything. Already excited to come back again!

Ok so let's start with the positives - the location is idyllic ; very peaceful, no road noise is audible. A great place to get away from it all. The hot tub is nice, the games room - although it's likely you will likely only use the table tennis table. The mansion itself is a great size for large parties of 15 plus. Now for the not so positives ; this isn't a cheap place - best part of £3k for one week in August. The bathrooms desperately need modernising. They are very old, they weren't cleaned at all during the 7 days we stayed. The shower doors were half hanging off. We mentioned this to the owners sister (our contact as the owner was away - more about her later!) who said someone would look at it - they did and it was still just as bad. This isn't great when so many people are sharing two bathrooms - one of which is tiny. The kitchen isn't huge considering the size of the property - hardly any preparation areas - and the flies and wasps ! 🙈. Yes I know it's near a farm but a fly zapper on the wall in the kitchen would really help - they were literally crawling all over everything in the kitchen / dining room. The decor is old and shabby throughout, the standard of cleaning isn't great at all - dead flies and dust aplenty in many different areas of the property. The bedrooms are decent sizes, although the one we stayed in only had a double bed when a king or super could easily have been accommodated. There was no fitted sheet, only a loose sheet which kept coming off - again the beds weren't changed at all during our stay. Now back to the owners sister. We had two well behaved dogs with us. One evening we left the labrador outside whilst we were eating and he was barking for around 10 minutes only. She came knocking on the door accusing us of being inconsiderate. We apologised and said he had only been outside for 10 minutes whilst we were eating and we would take him inside now. She was very unpleasant and grumpy about the whole matter - really not nice when you are meant to be on holiday. So overall we probably wouldn't return again unless improvements were made.

This house is off the beaten track, in the middle of gorgeous countryside and within easy reach of great coastal walks, beaches, boat trips, 4x4 driving, nature reserves etc. The kitchen is well equipped and the house absorbs 16 people without really noticing as it's that large! The hot tub is the best I've ever been in - just the right temperature and lots of different jet options. This is very different from your average large house for family gatherings in good and less good ways. On the less good, the cleaning standard is more friend's house than polished holiday let. All the vital areas were spotless (kitchen and all equipment within, bathrooms, dining table etc) but some wall hangings, fireplaces, corners and light fittings were quite dusty and mildly spidery. The decor was 'faded grandeur' style with knockabout paintwork and a couple of slightly cracked window panes. The main bathroom was on the tatty side of vintage with a rather flexible, bouncy feel underfoot! The loft rooms didn't get enough air as the windows didn't open much or at all so it felt a little damp with touches of mould in high places. A couple of the loft room mattresses were a little thin. The main floor bedrooms were nice and airy with comfy beds and lovely views. It was lovely having the animals around (and the gorgeous well kept lawn areas they couldn't get to) but for dog owners, the donkeys vigorous defence of their territory from dogs was a bit off-putting and meant that our local dog walks started with a trip in the car to the gates 300m away where the donkey territory ended! The active dairy farm next door gave entertainment with the herd trekking past twice a day and machinery rumbling past. The children liked the play area. The sitting out areas and the picturesque shingled roof lean to for the hot tub were a delight. The parking was plentiful, unloading was easy. Both Tesco and Asda could find the house for deliveries. The people I met - the lady for the welcome and the fella sorting out recycling etc were pleasant and chatty. Remember your bath and kitchen towels, loo roll and dishwasher tablets! There was a starter amount of consumables - easy to forget to order more. On the whole this quirky place was a good find.

It's a beautiful building situated in Cardigan. The owners live on site which allows easy access if there are any problems. Due to the age of the building pack extra blankets and portable heaters; the nights can be very cold. Nonetheless it's an opulent building which gives you a sense of 18th century architecture. Think 'Pride and Prejudice' and you won't be disappointed
